Eminent Domain Abuse E-mail

When the Supreme Court held in Kelo v. City of New London that “eminent domain” could be used to confiscate private property for commercial profit and gain (masked as economic development), many across the nation were justifiably angry. But few realized at the time that this was a major moment in the escalating drive to construct a continent- wide “North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway” as the anchor of a larger plan to absorb the United States into a single “North American Union (NAU)” with Canada and Mexico. Texas citizens are now learning this first hand, as many stand at risk of losing their homes, ranches, farms, and businesses to “eminent domain” abuse.

Eminent Domain abuse has eroded the right to own property in America

The construction of the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC), the first stage of the NAFTA Superhighway, is being debated in Texas. Its effect on the lives of millions of Texans would be staggering. As many as one million “eminent domain” notices may soon be issued. Towns and communities would be cut off from one another as this “Superhighway” could force some residents to go as many as 50 miles to get to their jobs, relatives, and supply stores. Many, if not most, would be forced to use parts of the TTC, and pay their oppressive tolls, just to travel a few miles. (Cintra, the foreign company building the TTC makes no money from building expensive overpasses and will not construct any. Neither will Texas or the local communities, which simply cannot afford to.) Once begun, nothing may be able to stop this “eminent domain” monster from devouring the lives of millions of Texans and, ultimately, millions more Americans.

“Eminent domain,” as now defined by Kelo and through such tactics as “quick-takings,” is the key to the construction of the “NAFTA Superhighway” in Texas today and elsewhere across the United States tomorrow. Without it, this “Superhighway” could not be built and the “North American Union” (NAU) would be seriously, if not fatally slowed. It is another key to defeating both. That’s why exposing “eminent domain” abuse and forcing legislative action to slow its wrath, is a key objective of the NAU War Room.
